The Most Painful Pole Dance Tricks
Pole dancing is painful. The entire premise is built on the fact that you need to hold yourself off the floor by pressing your body into a metal pole. All pole dance moves are a bit painful when you first begin learning, but your skin and body adapts and most things become tolerable quite quickly. There are some moves however which just seem to bring the same level of pain no matter how many times you do them. There’s skin pinching and tearing Chinese burn style, direct bone on pole contact and grips in really sensitive places. If you ever master these moves, I think you just have to keep doing them consistently for eternity. I’m sure if you take a break for any longer than a week the pain will come bouncing right back at you while the pole dance gods laugh evilly in the background. Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to present the most painful pole dance moves of all time.

Pole Dance Competitions: What happens on the day? What do I bring with me?
You’ve done all the hard work, been training for months, or not if you’re one of those gifted people who can throw together a pole dancing routine in a month (I hate those people). You’ve bedazzled your costume to within an inch of its sparkly life, makeup and hair is booked after scrolling through Pinterest for endless hours in search of the perfect combination. All that remains is to actually put it all together and dance your heart out on stage. But what happens on pole comp day and what do I need to bring with me?

The pole dance performance that made you fall in love with the sport
We’ve all got one, that one performance we watched early in our pole dance journey that cemented our love and obsession with the sport. Maybe it was the captivating contemporary dance elements, the brute strength and grace of the movement around the pole or the hypnotising leg waves of an exotic babe. It could have been a friend or family member at a local pole dancing competition or maybe it was your instructor busting out a routine in class.

Mine was an aerial deadlift, I was aiming very high right from the start, and needless to say it’s taken me years to get my dream move. Along the way there have been many milestone pole moves that have marked a new phase of movement conquered and opened new avenues of learning. One of the great things about pole dancing is that you never stop learning, there’s so many facets to the sport. There’s always new moves being created, new combos to try, new dance elements to work on, handstands, flexibility. As pole dancers we’ll never be bored or lack inspiration from our community.
